Where Characters Become Legends

3D
CHARACTER ANIMATION

The goal is simple but powerful

At Zeyen, 3D character animation is not just a technical process, it is the heartbeat of storytelling.

Every character, whether grounded in Nairobi’s reality or drifting through surreal emotional landscapes like Snow in the Savannah, is designed to feel alive, expressive, and deeply human.

The goal is simple but powerful

To create characters that audiences don’t just watch but feel.

Overview of the 3D Animation Pipeline at Zeyen

Zeyen follows a structured yet flexible production pipeline, ensuring efficiency while preserving creative freedom.

Pre-Production
(The Soul Before the Body)

This is where characters are born conceptually.

At Zeyen, this stage is heavily influenced by:
    •    African storytelling aesthetics
    •    Emotional realism
    •    Symbolic design

Modeling (Sculpting the Vessel)

This stage transforms 2D concepts into full 3D assets by manipulating vertices, edges, and surfaces to create detailed character geometry.

Zeyen’s approach:
   •    Stylized realism (not hyper-real, not cartoon, something in between)
   •    Focus on facial topology for expressive animation
   •    Cultural authenticity in character features and design.

 Animation (Where Life Sparks)

This is the core stage where characters come alive.

Techniques used:
    •    Keyframe animation
    •    Motion capture (via iPhone ARKit or similar tools)
    •    Blocking → spline refinement

Blocking is used to define key poses and timing before refining motion.

These elements create believable movement and storytelling
